• Description:
Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a "tummy tuck," is a major surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall.
The surgery of the abdomen allows the alterations of anatomical and aesthetic order. The main alterations happen at the level of the skin (flabbiness); of the fat and of the musculature (diastase of the muscle-straight-abdominal ones), giving that aspect of distended abdomen and without contour. According to the degree of alteration of the abdomen, we can indicate a miniabdminoplasty or classic abdominoplasty. The difference is that in the miniabdominoplasty entails a liposuction in the superior portion of the abdomen and ressection of a small skin strip and fat of the portion more inferior of the abdomen, where we corrected the muscular flabbiness below the navel. In the classic abdominoplasty, we accomplished the detachy of the whole abdomen, treatment of the whole musculature (diastase) and the removal of the skin excess and fat.

• Surgery:
The incision is made in the more inferior portion of the abdomen, so that it can be covered with the bikini. We corrected the diastase of the muscle-retoabdominals and we removed the skin excess and fat. After having accomplished the sutures, we made the curative and the patient stays for 2 days in the hospital.

• Scars:
The scar is positioned above the hair pubis and it follows the mark of the bikini.

• Postoperative:
The patient stays for 2 days in the hospital. Starting from the 7th day we began to remove the points. The patient makes use of a compressive belt for 30 days. The patient cannot make any physical effort and he/she should walk slightly bent forward. After 30 days, he/she can return to his/her normal activities.

• Comments:
The abdominoplasty will give you a new silhouette and will provide important changes in your self-esteem. For everything to finish in great success for the surgeon and for the patient, the same it should follow all the medical recommendations. In case that the pacient smoke, he must stop smoking 20 days before the surgery.
